The Yamaha UD-Stomp was a collaboration between Yamaha and guitar legend Allan Holdsworth, giving you a wealth of modulation and delay effects. But there's more to this one in particular: it was owned by Holdsworth himself.  And, it still has his presets in there.

More on that in a moment.....

Introduced in 2002, the official product description of the Yamaha UD-Stomp Modulation Delay read, “This incredible guitar effects processor is like having 8 of the world’s finest rack mount delay units in one rugged design,” and it was literally true. Each delay offered independent control of multiple parameters (e.g., Pan, modulation Speed and Depth, High Cut and Low Cut filters, and Tap tempo) and the signal-routing possibilities were nearly unlimited. There was even a S/PDIF digital output and built-in headphone monitoring. The pedal, which remains highly sought-after by fans of Allan Holdsworth, was discontinued in 2004.

It comes in a sturdy housing with plenty of tactile controls to give you the ultimate delay experience. There are 4-button footswitches, 8-band Delay, user presets, MIDI, and so much more. If you're looking for a pedal that is the be-all-end-all of delays and modulation this is it!

We just took this pedal in from a good customer of ours, who new Holdsworth well.  He provided us a letter telling the story, which is as follows:

I first met Allan in late ‘72 or early ‘73. Tempest, his band at the time, were doing a showcase or album release show (don’t remember exactly) at the Marquee club on Wardour St in London. My band was one of the 2 opening acts. We chatted quite a bit in the grimy dressing room backstage partly because he didn’t want to go and deal with the musos and the press out front. We met a few times subsequently at studios around London and occasionally had a beer (or three).  Fast forward to ‘83ish and we literally bumped into each other at an ‘English Pub’ in Costa Mesa California having both moved here. We continued our friendship from then on. Allan was incredibly meticulous in the studio. He was never really satisfied with either his sound or his performances. That was the main reason it was so long between releases.

He was never committed to any particular amp or guitar for that matter. He had zero interest in vintage gear. He did like Yamaha effects units and had a great relationship with them for years. He used the Yamaha DG series amps live for a while along with Mesa Boogies often with replaced badges to reflect his latest sponsor. Always stereo live. He used the UD Stomp for a number of years but later replaced them with the Magic Stomp which were smaller, lighter and cheaper than the UDs.

In the studio he often used the UD with the Yamaha BG500 “guitar preamp”, an early digital modeler. I’m not sure if they were ever widely available to the public. Sovteks, Dual Rectifiers, Carrs, Yamaha v50 Soldano, H & H. All made appearances over the years. Of course whatever he used it always sounded like Allan. Pretty much everything from the late ‘90s onwards will have Yamaha effects all over it.   This Yamaha UD Stomp not only was previously owned by Allan (he’d sell me some of his gear from time to time when he needed cash), it still has his personal presets!

Black mens coat
I didn't expect such good quality from such an inexpensive black coat, stylish, neat, looks expensive, none of my friends believed that I bought it so cheaply! No pellets appeared after a year and a half of use

Has shoulder pads.
The jacket has shoulder pads that don't necessarily show on the image in the purchase area. Pretty pronounced so if that's not your thing definitely stay away. Got lucky and it doesn't look too bad on me but it took so long to receive the package I don't feel like going through the refund process so I'm dealing with it. Quality is great tho

Nice Coat Not So Great Packaging
Size: X-Small, Color: A-grey
Nice coat but packaging needs to be improved. It arrived not properly folded and as a result it was completely wrinkled. Took some work to iron so it looked as advertised. Packaging for such things has to be reviewed.
